Lomo Lovers!

I did a LOMO photography course a month or so ago with Yolanda Stapleton at FAC.
Basically we ran around the grounds on the most ridiculously humid and hot day and took photos first off with a (fabulous toatally going to be my next purchase) Fisheye camera, and then exposed the same film using an oktomat.
We covered some of the lenses with cellophane and colour flash gels while using both cameras.
So I got a copy of the images this week in the mail and was excited/ surprised at the results! It was hard sometimes to remember what we actually took photos of, and I've been squinting at the photos to try and work it out.
These are to ones I think worked out well, 13 out of 39 images is actually an amazing result when there were two of us simply taking random photos, and mucking around for a few hours.

I snapped this at work a few weeks ago while doing carbohydrate assays, this was the control sample. Naturally occurring art!

The Old Shack

I got a short roll of film in a letter from Gabby an IUOMA member last week. With my film scanner out this week I scanned them in to see what they looked like as a photo as opposed to holding them up against the light. I really like them. I've made up heaps of stories about where it is, who lived there, why it's run down etc etc. Something about it reminds me of The Road by Cormac McCarthy or maybe a Grey Gardens-like story? Anyhow I thought I'd share... any imaginations running wild with tales of this imposing building? Chuck them in a comment below :)

I have got back my most recent LOMO film today. EXCITEMENT when I scanned them in to my computer (with much technical kudos to my sister Danni!) Although I do have to flip some of them around in photoshop tomorrow... I could not wait to share, and in fact it kind of adds to the quirk I think.

COLOURSPLASH!

I spent yesterday snapping away with my coloursplash camera mucking around in preparation for my LOMOphoto course at FAC next, next week. Because it is lovely and filmy I can't show you the pictures yet.... but I can give you a taste of what the camera does with a look at some of the pics I took last time a went on a photo spree.

There is just something about this picture that I love

I stumbled accross this photo on That Kind Of Woman, It's from Concept Blanc originally. There is something about it that I love. The nonchalance of the (slightly inaccessible/ photo shoot perfect) ladies. The understated but textually rich pallet of their clothes. I like the repeat of the three girls on the right all looking to the left. The bike in the foreground. The fact that it is clearly in a city far more cosmopolitan and exciting than Perth. But most of all I love the chair they are sitting on.

It reminds me of how the Parisians sit at their cafes and people-watch everybody walking past. If I ever have my dream shop it WILL have a people watching bench out the front! Even if I am the only one who uses it, sittting in the sun sipping tea. Perth people tend to be a bit suspicious of things that are "there for your enjoyment".

When I can't sleep at night...

I muck around with a battery-powered paper lantern and my camera in the dark. Fun times.

I love the moon through the clouds...

This is the only slightly clear photo of about a million I took of the moon the other night... I couldn't find the clip thing for the tripod so I was doing my best not to breath to prevent light streaks. I like how gentle the light is.

SUMMER SHENANIGANS!

My blogging absence has been due to ridiculously nice weather and lots of friends being home for some summer fun. I celebrated my birthday with backyard croquet, great for when it finally starts to cool off in the arvo.






I also spent a few days down in the gorgeous south of our state where I grew up, swimming at the beach, hugging cute animals, tasting expensive wines and getting lost on the way out of mazes with some great friends.





I start work again on Monday... I hope you have all been having some lovely summer holidays if it's that time of year for you, otherwise, I don't mean to gloat, sorry.
