004 & 005

Friday I went to Dim Sum with my food girls. We try to go out for lunch every Friday (uni assignments and bank accounts permitting) I love the bamboo steamer stacks, and how the ladies sift through them all instinctively knowing where everything is hidden in the abyss. The best stuff to have a the 'Northbridge Chinese Restaurant' is the black bean tripe (ok I know TRIPE ewww, but this is really good, and the best black bean sauce EVER!), pork rice flour rolls with heaps of sauce, yam cakes, and the lovely fresh bows. and about a billion other things!
Yesterday night was the last night of Dandiya (part of the Navrati celebrations) it's like a folk dance thing where you clap sticks with partners that rotate around and around dressed up as only Indians can! It's a bit of a tradition for my group of friends to go, as one of them is Gujurati (the state where the dances originated) so his family is really into it. I painted the dandia sticks this morning.

So this week has been epic exciting!
Tuesday I received an email from Curtin regarding my interview for course switching to art, it is scheduled for Wednesday and I promptly got really really worried!
That evening I Finished my 6-week drawing class with the adorable Elizabeth at the Fremantle Arts Centre. We had the coolest life model, she was joking and singing all night! It was a great way to finish off. I had a opportunity to chat with Elizabeth afterwards about what to put in my folio to show off at the interview, and she was very encouraging about my work (Massive ego boost!).
I sent out most of my packages for before I leave to Europe, and am starting to realise that it might be a good idea to pull out my suitcase and see what will fit. But I do have my International Drivers License, so I can now LEGALLY drive in any country in the world!
And my letterbox has been getting a bit of a workout with some swaps beginning to filter in... So many from super cool places, check it out!

Tuesday 11/May

Today I gave myself a headache trying to work out proportion in my drawing class! It was a NIGHTMARE!

Wednesday 5/May

Today I was a bit sick so I didn't go to work, instead of being a complete lazy butt I started my drawing homework, using the grid method to get in-proportion drawings. It worked quite well seeing as the horse looked like a horse!

Tuesday 4/May

Today in my drawing class we were using charcoal to explore tone... I left the class with hands blackened with it... and left a hand print on my car door (along with many smudges on my face!)

Tuesday 27/Apr

Today I got a phone call saying that the drawing class i had enrolled in had been cancelled, but I could switch into one starting this evening. A quick dash to Jackson's after work ensued, to procure necessary equipment, and that evening I was standing in front of an easel feeing like a bit of a pro.
